Chevy Posts Best Sport Utility Vehicle Sales Month in 85-Year
History Despite New Competition Truck Lineup Has Best October Sales
Ever
WARREN, Mich., Nov. 1 -- Chevrolet sport utility vehicles
-- Suburban, Tahoe and Blazer -- each had their best sales month in
history in October, despite recently introduced competition.
The record-breaking sales were part of the best October sales that
Chevy's truck lineup has ever had. The sport utility vehicle (SUV)
sales increases, however, were the most impressive:
Exceeding October 1995 Sales
-----------------------------------------
Suburban 63% (9,748 v. 5,748)
Tahoe 47% (13,011 v. 8,490)
Blazer 35% (27,376 v. 19,484)
Other significant increases included Chevrolet C/K Full-size Pickup
sales, jumping 29 percent for the month compared with the year ago
period (49,695 v. 37,050), and Astro Van, with sales increasing 20
percent for October versus October 1995 (9,769 v. 7,850).
Chevrolet SUV sales also made the largest percentage gains in the
truck lineup for the calendar year. Suburban sales for the calendar
year through October increased 20 percent (77,519 v. 64,293) compared
with the year ago period. Tahoe, for the same period, jumped 74
percent (104,432 v. 60,094), and Blazer posted a 17 percent gain
(204,908 v. 175, 416).
