Detroit's Convergence Conference Reveals The Future
11/01/96
Last week's Convergence conference in Detroit was devoted to electronic "future-look" in the auto industry and came up with some interesting inventions: Seat covers that react like human skin to heat or cold by opening its pores to disperse the passenger's seat and would also be able to adjust seats based on the passenger's weight thus eliminating electric black boxes. Voice recognition technology for radio controls, radio and navigators thus eliminating some dashboard controls. Door panels that become speakers for the car's stereo system and thus eliminate door audio speakers. "Smart tires" that can change their tread pattern to improve traction.
