Honda Deepens Ties with Chrysler

1 November 1996

COMLINE TRANSPORTATION WIRE reports that Honda plans to increase sales in Japan of Jeeps made by Chrysler, by designating 350 of its 800 affiliated dealers as ``core shops'' to sell the off-road vehicle.

Since Honda does not manufacture off-road vehicles, and Chrysler has not yet developed a sales network in Japan, the partnership is of benefit to both companies.

In 1995, Japanese consumers purchased 13,871 jeeps, up 9% percent from 1994. Eighty percent were sold by Honda-affiliated dealerships in Japan.
