Audi Studying Production of 2nd Aluminum Car
10/28/96
Reuters reports that Franz-Josef Paefgen, director of Volkswagen's Audi unit in Germany, announced that Audi will decide this year whether it will make a second car with an aluminum body. Production of the car, if initiated, will begin prior to the turn of the century.
The aluminum car would be smaller than Audi's A8 model, and Paefgen said production technology was either already complete or under development. Audi has not picked a name for the car, although it would have a sales goal of 50,000 units annually.
