Special Edition Accord Models Bring Added Value to Competitive Market

TORRANCE, Calif., Oct. 22 -- A 1997 Accord Special
Edition model offering an extensive package of popular features at a
savings of more than $1,000, is now arriving at Honda dealerships,
American Honda Motor Co., Inc., announced today.

The Accord Special Edition, available in both coupe and sedan models,
is based on the Accord LX, which accounts for more than half of all
Accord sales. New equipment on the Accord Special Edition includes
15-inch alloy wheels, an AM/FM stereo with CD player, security system
with remote entry, power moonroof, simulated wood center console,
leather-wrapped steering wheel and body-colored protective side
molding.

Other features include variable assist power steering, front disc
brakes, dual airbags, power windows, power door locks, cruise control,
air conditioning, variable intermittent wipers and rear window
defroster.

"We've found that consumers don't necessarily want a cheaper car, but
they do want more value for their money," said Dick Colliver, Honda
Division senior vice president. "The Accord Special Edition combines
the most popular Accord model with the most popular options at a
greatly reduced price."

The Special Edition Accord Coupe has a manufacturer's suggested retail
price of $20,200. The Special Edition Accord Sedan has a MSRP of
$20,400.

The Special Edition Accord models are now reaching dealerships. About
20,000 will be built through the end of 1996. All Accords are built at
Honda of America Manufacturing, Inc., in Marysville, Ohio.
