Kia Announces Prices for 1997 Sephia Compact Sedan

IRVINE, Calif., Oct. 18 -- Kia Motors America today
announced a modest increase in the manufacturer's suggested retail
price on two of its 1997 Sephia models, and maintained the price on
another model.

Available in three trim levels -- the well-equipped GS, the popular LS
and the entry-level RS -- the 1997 Sephia comes with dual airbags and
a 1.8-liter double overhead cam (DOHC) engine, except in California,
where all RS models and the LS model with manual transmission instead
comes with a 1.6-liter DOHC engine.

The entry-level RS model carries a suggested base price of $9,795. The
suggested base price for the popular LS model remains at $10,895. The
top-of- the-line GS has a suggested base price of $11,995.

All Sephia models come standard with a theft-deterrent system; remote
fuel-filler and trunk releases; day-night rear-view mirror; tinted
glass; door map pockets; dual cupholder; reclining bucket seats and
front side-window and rear window defoggers.

Enhanced with additional amenities, the GS model also features cruise
control; power windows and door locks; dual power remote outside
mirrors; variable intermittent windshield wipers; driver's seat with
lumbar support; map, door and interior lights; digital clock and
ignition key illumination.

"We believe our Sephia is the most value-packed sedan in its class,"
said Greg Warner, Kia's executive vice president and chief operating
officer. "Even with these new prices, our cars are still comfortably
lower than similarly equipped compact sedans."

Kia is in the midst of its market-by-market roll-out and currently
operates more than 210 dealerships in 22 states.
