Kia Announces Prices for 1997 Sportage Sport-Utility Vehicle; More
Standard Equipment Added to All Sportage Models

IRVINE, Calif., Oct. 18 -- Kia Motors America today
announced that the 1997 Sportage sport-utility vehicle will be an even
greater value thanks to substantially more standard equipment.

Base Sportage models will have a rear spare tire carrier,
theft-deterrent system and power door locks as standard equipment --
equipment valued at more than $800 -- while the suggested retail price
increases just $700.

The suggested retail price for the Sportage 4x2 is $14,495, while the
suggested retail price for the Sportage 4x4 is $15,995.

All Sportage EX models feature cruise control, rear-window
wiper/washer, chrome outside door handles, body-color outside mirrors
and the aforementioned roof rack.

Along with the new standard features -- rear spare tire carrier,
theft- deterrent system and power door locks -- every Kia Sportage
comes standard with power windows, power remote outside mirrors and a
rear window defogger.

Aluminum alloy wheels are standard on all Sportage models except for
the Sportage 4x2, which has steel wheels.

"When many other manufacturers are significantly decontenting their
vehicles, we're adding extra value," said Greg Warner, Kia's executive
vice president and chief operating officer. "The Sportage's
affordability, off- road capability and standard amenities make it a
smart and fun alternative to a sedan."

Kia is in the midst of its market-by-market roll-out and currently
operates more than 210 dealerships in 22 states.
