Porsche Tells Dealers Not To Get Greedy re Boxster Sales
10/17/96
Porsche has enough orders to sell 1000 Boxsters a month in the U.S., but North America will only get 6000 of these sporsters the first year. Buyers are clamoring for the new car and many are willing to pay a huge premium to be the first-kid-on-the-block with a Boxster. However, Porsche U.S. Prexy, Fred Schwab has warned dealers not to charge over the $41,000 base price or he will not be happy with them. The buyer for the mid engined roadster is 35 years old, male or female . . . and 10 years younger than the 911 buyer who are mostly males. The 911 model is 33 years old and there are Porsche-o-philes who are looking for something new from Stuttgart.
