Honda to Reorganize Distribution to United States

10/16/96

Nikkei English News reports that Honda Motor Co. plans to reorganize the way it distributes vehicles shipped to the U.S. by next month, company officials say. Honda has increased the number of vehicles it prodces in the U.S., cutting exports to the states by about half since the 1980s. The company currently ships only 200,000 vehicles to the U.S. every year.

Honda will cut shipping expenses by halting its shipments of vehicles to its three East Coast centers. Instead it will send all cars and parts to West Coast centers in Portland, San Diego, and Los Angeles, forwarding what it needs in the East by rail.
