Toyota Starts Making Cars in Vietnam

Kyodo has reported that Toyota's $50 million joint venture with Vietnam Engine and Agricultural Machinery and Quo (Asia) PTE Ltd.--an oil trading company from Singapore--put production into full swing last week. An opening ceremony was held Thursday at the production facilities of Toyota Motor Vietnam Co. in Vinh Phu Province, northwest of Hanoi. Toyota owns 70% of the venture, Vietnam Engine and Agricultural Machinery has 20%, and Quo has 10%.
