Isuzu Affiliated Parts Maker Plans U.S. Production

Comline has reported that Isuzu's affiliate, Automobile Foundry, is contracting Alabama-based C.T. South to take over its exhaust manifold production. The company will ship the U.S. produced manifolds back to Japan, and hopes to cut costs and maintain competitiveness in Japan by doing so. Automobile Foundry currently makes about 400 tons of manifolds monthly. It plans to shift production of most items to the U.S. plant by the end of 1997.
