Ford Announces September Sales Totals
DETROIT, Oct. 3 -- Because of the model year sales race,
Ford has provided its vehicle line sales detail to a
third-party (Dave Zoia, Editor of Ward's Automotive Reports), to hold
pending release of Honda and Toyota figures later today. Included are
the much-anticipated Taurus sales results.
While the calendar year sales race continues to capture the lion's
share of attention, media interest in the model year outcome has been
growing. Through August, Taurus, the perennial car sales champion, had
sold 332,940 units (and Sable had sold 105,750). Meanwhile, for the
same 11 months, Honda Accord and Toyota Camry sales were 334,211 and
327,507 units, respectively.
Again, Ford Motor Company will release its detailed sales information
later today via PR Newswire following the release of Honda's and
Toyota's September sales data.
