Ford Canada Sees Strongest Truck Sales
10/07/96
Canada NewsWire reported that Ford of Canada Announced its best truck sales ever and a 0.3% rise in its total year-to-date sales. Record-breaking sales of Explorer and Windstar models--and the successful launch of the all-new Expedition full-size sport utility vehicle--led Ford's September sales.
The news agency cited John Radford, Ford Canada's Vice President for General Sales, as saying that recent momentum in car sales makes the 1997 model year look promising: "Our September results include the third consecutive month where car sales have increased in a year-over-year analysis. This impressive result is largely attributable to yet another record-breaking sales achievement for the Escort where the all-new 1997 model -- and our one-price strategy for sedan and wagon -- has taken the Canadian small car market by storm.
"In addition," Radford continued, "last month's Ford Taurus and Mercury Sable sales of 2,915 units represented a new record for the sleek, mid-size sedans and wagons which also benefit from the one-price strategy."
