Chrysler Announces Black MBA Case Competition

Chrysler Sponsors National Black MBA Case Competition AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Sept. 27 -- Bright, Impressive, Analytical. Competitive team members. That and more describes African-American MBA students from 30 universities across the U.S. that will compete this weekend in the National Black MBA Association's (NBMBAA) 1996 Student Case Analysis and Presentation Competition in New Orleans during their 18th annual conference. Sponsored by Chrysler Corporation , this year's two-day Student Case Competition was developed by a volunteer team of Chrysler employees from various departments and constructed around the automotive retail process, which is experiencing rapid change. About 110 students (30 teams) will compete for $18,000 in scholarship funds. The Chrysler Corporation Fund will also contribute $10,000 to the NBMBAA scholarship fund. "We're sponsoring the Student Case Competition because it reflects many of the core beliefs and values we hold at Chrysler...educational excellence, teamwork, quality and embracing change," said W. Frank Fountain, Chrysler's Vice President of Government Affairs. Eighteen judges, who are senior business professionals, will choose the six finalists. First, second and third place winners will be announced by Fountain on Saturday, September 28 during the Awards Banquet. The Student Case Competition was designed to provide an opportunity for MBA students attending the national conference to demonstrate their analytical and business problem solving skills developed during their MBA studies and work experience. The September 25-29 NBMBAA conference is designed to meet the professional development, mentoring and networking needs of African American MBAs, business entrepreneurs and students. Over 7,000 participants are registered to attend the conference. In addition to the Student Case Competition, Chrysler will participate in a two-day career fair and exhibit, which includes the display of a Plymouth Prowler, Plymouth Place tech cart and an exposition of African-American advertising (television and print).
