Chrysler Establishes South East Asian Regional Headquarters in Singapore

Reuters reports that Chrysler Corporation announced that it has opened its southeast Asian regional headquarters in Singapore. The new division is called Chrysler Southeast Asia Pte Ltd. and will implement business strategy for 15 southeast Asian markets, including Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines and Singapore. Chrysler Southeast Asia will report to Chrysler Asia-Pacific Operations, which is based in the company's world-wide headquarters in Auburn Hills, Michigan.

Chrysler has invested over $200 million in right-hand-drive product development for Asian markets. Southeast Asian sales volume has risen 30 percent since 1994, and now registers at approximately $250 million, annually. Chrysler sells more than 10,000 vehicles in southeast Asia ecah year, 6,000 of which are assembled locally in Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia.

Chrysler is also establishing Chrysler Jeep Automotive of Singapore Pte Ltd, a dealership that will sell and service a wide range of vehicles would be sold and serviced in Singapore.

Chrysler's business partner in Singapore is Komoco Auto Pte Ltd, a unit of HPL Group.
