09/23/96
Reuters has reported that Chrysler is opening a Southeast Asian headquarters in Singapore to oversee expansion in the region. The announcement came last Thursday from Michael Morton, managing director of Chrysler Southeast Asia Pte Ltd.
Morton also said that Chrysler established a dealership in Singapore with Komoco Auto Pte Ltd, a company controlled by businessman Ong Beng Seng and the distributor of South Korea's Hyundai cars. Chrysler sales in Southeast Asia rose 30 percent in 1995 (year-on-year) and are now worth about US$250 million a year, he said.
