Chrysler Donates $2 Million to Detroit Symphony Orchestra
09/23/96
UPI reported that Chrysler Motor Corporation has donated $2 million to the Detroit Symphony Orchestra and its proposed Orchestra Place cultural center. Chrysler Chairman Robert Eaton presented the check to DSO Chairman Alfred R. Glancy III at a ceremony the preceded the DSO's opening concert for its 83rd season at Orchestra Hall.
Half the grant is earmarked for the $80 million Orchestra Place project, which proposes merging an arts school, medical center, offices and an addition to Orchestra Hall. The other half of Chrysler's grant will go into the DSO's operating fund coffers.
