Japanese Car Navigation Specs Likely to Become International Standard

09/19/96

Reuters has reported that a Japanese newspaper says that the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) is likely to adopt Japanese specifications for car navigation systems as an international standard.

Nikkei reported that such a move would help Japanese manufacturers export more car navigation systems. Nikkei reported that Japan's Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications was in final negotiations with ITU members, but Reuters could not contact the ministry for immediate comment.
