Japan's Auto Sales Fall in August

Comline has reported that the Japan Automobile Dealers Association's report on August car sales indicates that car registration in Japan dropped 2.1% to 290,142 and that light car sales fell 5.6% to 105,291. The combined figures, at 395,433 cars, represent a decline of 3.1%, compared to numbers from the previous August. Honda and Daihatsu experienced double-digit growth on the strength of their sports-utility vehicles, while Toyota's figures held stable from the preceding year. Most other manufacturers saw their sales drop.
