09/16/96

Little Change in Honda 1997 Prices

TORRANCE, Calif., Sept. 12 -- Honda will increase the
price of some 1997 models of its two best-selling car lines by less
than 1 percent and prices of other models will remain unchanged,
American Honda Motor Co., Inc., announced today.

Prices of the Accord, the best-selling car in America, will increase
an average of 0.4 percent or $74. Accord prices start at $15,100. The
price of the 1997 Accord LX with an automatic transmission, which
accounts for nearly half of all Accord sales, will be $18,990, up $100
or 0.5 percent. There will be no increase in the price of the Accord
V-6 models.

Prices for the 1997 Civic are up an average of 0.7 percent or
$106. Civic CX and DX models receive larger wheels and tires (14
inches, up from 13 inches) and a full wheel cover replaces a center
cap. Civic prices start at $10,550. There will be no increase on the
popular Civic LX and EX sedans.

There will be no price increase for the '97 Honda Passport sport
utility vehicle or Honda del Sol.

Prices for the 1997 Odyssey and all-new Prelude will be announced
closer to their on-sale date in late October.

Destination and handling charges are unchanged at $395.
