Japanese Carmakers Spend $4.9 Billion on European Parts in 1995

09/13/96

Comline has reported that the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association (JAMA) has released fiscal 1995 parts procurement figures for automobiles that the top 11 Japanese carmakers made in Europe. The amount the carmakers spent reached $4,875,770,000. Of Japan's five big carmakers, Nissan Motor spent the most in Europe, at $2.3 billion.

JAMA regularly reports parts procurement figures in the U.S., but this announcement marked the first time the association had made the report for Europe. The European report was prompted by calls for equality from the EU and European parts makers.
