BMW 328i/is Receives J.D. Power and Associates APEAL Award

WOODCLIFF LAKE, N.J., Sept. 11 -- BMW's best selling
range of sedans, coupes and convertibles -- the six-cylinder 328i
models -- received the entry-luxury category award in the J.D. Power
and Associates APEAL study. In receiving this award, the 328i models
continue the enthusiastic response which was expressed by owners of
the 325i models in last year's study. The 325i received the award as
most appealing midsize car in the '95 study.

According to J.D. Power and Associates, the APEAL Study (APEAL stands
for Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout) is the first study
of significance to measure how owners feel about their car -- a
quantifiable measurement of the intangibles that form the relationship
between a vehicle and its owner. Specifically, the study analyzes
such areas as styling, engine and transmission performance, comfort
and convenience, ride and handling, seats, heating, cooling and
ventilation, cockpit layout, instrument panel and sound system.

"BMWs have always provided the ultimate driving experience and 328i
owners have again confirmed that in this year's study," stated Victor
Doolan, head of BMW's sales and marketing operation in the U.S. "And
with traction control and free scheduled maintenance now standard on
all '97 3 Series, BMW is in a strong position to again receive an
APEAL award next year," added Mr. Doolan.

The latest iteration of BMW's 3 Series line has proven to be both
popular with consumers and the automotive press. Recent awards won by
the car have included being named to the Automobile Magazine
"All-Stars" list four years in a row, being named a "Best Buy" by
Consumer Reports, and being one of Car and Driver magazine's "Ten
Best" cars five years running.

BMW entered the North American market in 1975. Since then the company
has grown to include marketing, sales and financial services
organizations in the United States and Canada; a South Carolina
manufacturing operation; a design firm in California; and various
other operations throughout the U.S. and Canada. BMW is represented in
North America through a network of more than 375 automobile and 190
motorcycle retailers in the United States and Canada. BMW (US) Holding
Corp., the brand's North American headquarters, is located in
Woodcliff Lake, New Jersey.
