Japan's Ministry of Transport OKs Car with Tracks In Place of Tires

09/13/96

Comline has reported that Japan's Ministry of Transportation has agreed to let drivers with ordinary driver's licenses operate Yabe Motors' new crawler car, the Mu Super Runner. Yabe's new vehicle has rubber tracks instead of tires. The triangular tracks allow the vehicle to navigate ordinary roads as well as rough terrain and ensure safety on snow-covered or sandy stretches. The tracks can be replaced by tires when the extra power of the tracks is unnecessary or During months of good weather. The vehicle is an adaptation of Isuzu's Mu. The company expects to sell 10 vehicles a month to hotels and self-run organizations.
