Infiniti Announces Pricing For New 1997 Q45

CARSON, Calif., Sept. 9 -- Infiniti, the luxury car
division of Nissan Motor Corporation U.S.A., today announced pricing
for its flagship luxury performance sedan, the Q45. With a
Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $47,900, the car will
be available starting today at more than 145 Infiniti retailers
nationwide. Consistent with Infiniti's commitment to consumer-based
pricing, the MSRP for the new Q45 remains the same as the base price
for the outgoing 1996 model, though the new car offers enhanced levels
of luxury and standard equipment.

"The new 1997 Q45 marks the first total redesign of the car since its
original introduction in 1989. The new Q45 has very dramatic exterior
lines and an elegant new interior design, providing the comfort,
quality and security Infiniti owners have come to expect, while
maintaining the spirited performance they enjoy," said Roger
Jolicoeur, vice president, Infiniti Division.

The Q45 Touring Model (Q45t), featuring a sport-tuned suspension and
other unique attributes, is offered at an MSRP of $49,900. Optional
heated front seats are available on Q45 for $400 and standard on Q45t.
Destination and handling charges remain at $495 for both models.

The Q45's luxurious feeling is provided through an array of standard
features ranging from comfortable leather seating appointments and
sweeping wood-grain trim, to a custom-designed eight-speaker Bose(R)
audio system with CD player, 10-way power front seats with two-setting
driver's seat exit and entry memory system, and HomeLink(TM)
transmitter system for remote opening of gates and garage doors.

Taking its cue from the desires of today's luxury car owners, Q45 is
styled to evoke a sense of elegance without ostentation, along with a
hint of classic luxury sedans from the past. Starting with a strong
horizontal character line, which runs from front to rear, the Q
designers combined an aerodynamic slanting front nose and grille in a
distinctively shapely package.

Just as with the exterior, the designers of the new Q's interior were
challenged to create the perfect balance of luxury and sportiness --
to please the driver and passengers as well as protect them, and to
inspire rather than isolate them.

Occupant protection is enhanced by a long list of standard safety
equipment, including dual air bags, pre-tensioner front seat belts,
child safety rear door locks, child seat anchors, a rigid body
structure with front and rear crumple zones, energy-absorbing steering
column and knee bolsters.

The Q45's engine, transmission and standard traction control system
work together to provide a seamless driving experience. A new
4.1-liter DOHC 32-valve V8 engine provides more torque at low and
mid-speed ranges (than the first generation Q45 powerplant), along
with reduced weight and improved fuel economy. Horsepower is rated at
266 at 5,600 rpm, while torque is rated at 278 foot-pounds at 4,000
rpm.

Infiniti ranked #1 in the J.D. Power and Associates Customer
Satisfaction Index survey for 1996. Announced in July of 1996, this
award validates the success of Infiniti's Total Ownership
Experience(R) customer care philosophy.
