Volvo Cuts Diesel Model Price

09/11/96

Reuters has reported that Swedish vehicle maker AB Volvo plans to reduce the price of its diesel model 850 TDI. The price cuts will take effect this week and will chop between 6,000 and 7,000 crowns off the cars' price tags. Volvo claimed it was lowering prices to compete with cheaper diesel models in Europe. A Volvo spokesman indicated that the price cuts are also expected to encourage sales of the 850 TDI, which debuted in Europe last summer. The spokesman indicated that the company hopes to see the effects of the new plans this fall.
