"GM's and Delco's expertise will help ensure that the Richmond area is among the best-prepared communities in the nation when EVs reach the commercial market. This will be of enormous benefit in improving air quality, stimulating economic development and demonstrating the viability of this clean, quiet technology." Robert C. Purcell Jr., Executive Director of General Motors Advanced Technology Vehicles said, "A market-based approach is critical to establishing a sustainable market for electric vehicles. We look to forward to joining with Virginia Power in a strategic partnership to bring the Chevrolet S-10 Electric pick up and Delco Electronics MAGNE CHARGE(TM) inductive vehicle chargers to Virginia and the other states of the Southeast. General Motors is also pleased to be the first automotive manufacturer to provide an OEM designed and produced electric vehicle to the marketplace on a national level."
