Audi Announces Sales for August 1996

Audi Records Best Sales Month Since 1988

AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Sept. 4 -- Audi of America,
Inc. reported U.S. sales of 2,977 for the month of August 1996,
representing a 195 percent increase over the same month last year when
sales were 1,009.

August's strong results represent Audi's best single month sales total
in the U.S. in eight years. Audi has demonstrated this kind of
year-over- previous-year sales increase for 20 of the last 21 months.

For the year, Audi is up 62.5 percent over 1995. Year-to-date, the
German luxury carmaker has sold 17,856 new cars compared to 1995's
mark of 10,989.

Audi continues to be the fastest-growing luxury passenger car
franchise in the U.S.
