GM Announces Aurora Sales for August 1996

Aurora Sales Improve for Second Month LANSING, Mich., Sept. 4 -- For the second month in a row, Aurora sales posted an improvement over year ago figures. Aurora sales increased by 589 units over the same month last year marking a 30.3 percent improvement. In July, Aurora sales increased 30.6 percent over the same month last year. "Aurora continues to be recognized by customers as a leader in its segment," said John Gatt, Aurora brand manager. "Its features and refinement combine with the Aurora V-8 to offer an outstanding package." In addition to being a Consumer's Digest "Best Buy" the Aurora was recently designated as a "Collectible Car of the Future" by the National Automotive History Collection. It was selected out of a list of twenty-three vehicle candidates. Total Oldsmobile sales were down 22 percent for the month compared to August last year with the decrease led by models scheduled to phase out in the 1996 model year. Bravada, Oldsmobile's sport utility truck, posted its best sales month ever.
