Nissan Expected to Post 1996-1997 Group Net Profit
09/05/96
Reuters has reported that Japan's Nissan Motor Co Ltd is expected to post a group net profit in the fiscal year ending March 31, 1997. The posting would mark the first net group profit in five years. The potential profit is ascribed to an improvement in its overseas business. The Japanese economic daily Nihon Keizai Shimbun said that it expects the company to post a group net profit of 40 to 50 billion yen in 1996-1997. The prior year the company posted an actual net loss of 88.4 billion yen. The paper said that the profit of Nissan's U.S. unit would improve and that the company's Mexican unit would also post a profit.
