Last Renault 5 rolls off Slovenian production line

09/03/96

Reuters has reported that the world's last Renault 5 rolled off a Slovenian carmaker's assembly line at the end of July. Revoz, the Slovenian carmaker, is a subsidiary of France's Renault and has been the only factory making the 25 year-old car for the past three years.

Revoz started making the model in 1989 and produced a total of 292,121 of them, about 84 percent of which were exported to the European Union. Worldwide Renault produced 9.2 million Renault 5 models over the past 25 years. Revoz has replaced Renault 5 production with production of the French carmaker's Clio, which has been Slovenia's best-selling car this year.
