Mazda Introduces Technical Training System
09/03/96
Comline has reported that Mazda introduced a technical training system that allows workers to leave their jobs for up to two years in order to pursue training. The company expects the experience to give employees valuable training and preserve quality while driving costs down.
Workers will be able to join teams of three members to concentrate on training in one of seven different areas. The teams will comnprise teachers and students drawn from Mazda's work force: Teachers will be company veterans between their mid-forties and retirement age, students will be younger workers. Themes will include repairing metal patterns and welding car bodies, and teams will learn manufacturing and repair by hand without the use of machines. The themes will involve study ranging from one to two years.
