08/29/96
Ford Expeditions Lead Charity Bash PITTSBURGH, Aug. 27 -- The new 1997 Ford Expedition will be traveling through Pennsylvania on an "expedition" of another kind -- the Variety Club Bash, a multi-city road tour that will raise money for children's charities August 28-September 2. To start the Bash off with a bang, Ford is providing Expeditions to lead the caravan of "Bash-ers" who will travel to locations including the Laurel Caverns, Punxsutawney, Erie, Butler, then return to Pittsburgh for a ride in the Labor Day parade. The event begins at 9 a.m. Wednesday at Pittsburgh's Market Square. "We are pleased to be a part of the Variety Club's efforts to help children," said Daniel Taylor, Ford Division regional sales manager. "We are especially pleased that the Ford Expeditions will lead the way in this exciting Bash for such a worthy cause." Originated in New Zealand, the Variety Club Bash will raise money for children's causes and make donations to various hospitals and charities on the route. "Bash-ers," who will participate in unique games and challenges along the way, will drive a wide variety of decorated vehicles including old ambulances. The Expedition is a full-size, four-door utility vehicle with available nine-passenger seating. A choice of two V-8 engines delivers more towing capability, payload and highway fuel economy than its chief competitors. Additionally, it is roomy and comfortable and can be parked in the average- size garage. The Expedition will go on sale at Ford dealerships nationwide in September.
