GM Ste-Therese Plant to Resume Production
08/29/96
Reuters reported that General Motors of Canada announced that it expects production to resume at its Ste-Therese plant in Boisbriand, Quebec this week. Boisbriand is a Montreal suburb.
Production at the plant, which makes 400 Chevrolet Camaros and Pontiac Firebirds daily, halted last Wednesday night due to a parts shortage. GM spokesman Marc Osborne said that new parts are expected to arrive in time to call the plant's 1,500 production workers back to work Thursday morning. GM laid off the workers when pads for the inside of doors did not meet specifications. The pads came from U.S. suppliers.
