Polish Venture Begins Hyundai Assembly

08/27/96

Reuters has reported that a joint venture between Polish trader PHZ Universal SA and South Korea's Hyundai has started to assemble Hyundai cars.

The Zycie Warszawy daily said the company is assembling Accent family car models from kits supplied by Hyundai. It will build approximately 1,500 cars this year. The price of the Polish-made Accent will be 34,000 to 46,0000 zlotys.

Earlier this month Poland's Industry Ministry approved Universal's plan to produce 15,000 Hyundai cars annually.
