Mercedes-Benz's Parent to Restructure?
08/20/96
Reuters has reported that the Germany's Welt am Sonntag newspaper published a story saying that the German industrial group Daimler-Benz AG was considering restructuring its operations.
The newspaper reported that Juergen Schrempp, the chairman of the Daimler management board, wanted to return the Stuttgart-based group to a more normal structure.
Daimler spokesman Roland Klein has said that the reported information was "just speculation."
The newspaper said the group's restructuring would redefine the operations of Mercedes-Benz; DASA, the group's aerospace unit; and Debis, Daimler's information technology unit.
The remains of AEG, Daimler's dismantled electronics group, would be merged into various units within Daimler, said the newspaper.
