VW Wants GM Suit Dismissed

Volkswagen AG has asked a federal court to dismiss a lawsuit by General Motors alleging that it illegally obtained secret GM documents. In a motion filed last week, VW asked the U.S. District Court in Detroit to dismiss GM's lawsuit because the automaker already is litigating the issue in German courts. The central figure in the lawsuit is J. Ignacio Lopez, GM's contorversial purchasing chief who suddenly left the company for Volkswagen. GM claims Lopez carted auway boxes of files and computer diskes containing secret GM documents.
