VW, Opel top love list with German women - survey
08/13/96
Reuters has reported that a survey of German car sales shows that German women love Opels and Volkswagens. One out of every two women who bought new cars in 1995 bought either a Volkswagen or an Opel. The survey also showed that about 25% of all Fiat and Renault sales went to German women.
Roughly one-fifth of 605,000 vehicles registered in Germany during 1995 were to women, and more than half of the women buying cars in Germany during the year chose a small car built in Germany.
The survey said the auto industry is intensifying its marketing and advertising campaigns toward women who rank "security" as their top priority in a purchase.
