08/06/96

The Sinnicolaul Mare facility will make will make electric wiring for Opel and BMW cars, once its built. Construction is scheduled to start next month, and is due to be finished by next summer.

GM has yet to decide whether the plant will be managed by Delphi or directly under GM's name. Delphi already manufactures electrical parts for western cars in Romania, under the provisions of a $20 million contract with Auto Mec SRL, a private company based in Sinnicolaul Mare. The new plant will generate 1,000 jobs in Romania.
