After his recent win at Laguna Seca, Wait now leads the Progressive Insurance Harley-Davidson SuperTwins Series by three points over Ben Bostrom. Dave Estok is third in the standings with two races remaining in the series. The appeals board met during the World Superbike event at Laguna Seca. Members included Jewel Hendricks, noted author and machinist; Steve Whitelock, FIM Technical Chief for World Superbike; and Jim Hutzler, Northern California Sales Representative for Parts Unlimited. The board overturned the disqualifications based on possible corrosive properties of fuel used in Wait's bikes that could have etched the cylinder heads. "While we do not agree with the findings of the board, we understand the worth and merit of the appeals process," said Merrill Vanderslice, Director of Competition of AMA Pro Racing. "We will continue to vigorously enforce rules to ensure fairness in our racing series."
