FANUC Robots Paint Trucks
07/12/96
Haden International Group has selected FANUC Robotics North America, Inc. to engineer and supply a robotic truck painting system. Haden will integrate a total of 30 FANUC robots into a painting system that will apply primer, basecoat, clearcoat and wheel well blackout to a major automotive manufacturer's full-sized truck line.
FANUC Robotics says that trucks can pose particular finishing problems because of their shapes, numbers of models and body styles. He claims that painting robots provide solutions to the problems that arise in truck painting.
FANUC's system will include their PaintWorks II control system, which offers single-point cell level control, providing users the ability to interface with all automated paint booth and dispensing equipment.
The order also includes robot-mounted color changers, which will allow the automaker to realize substantial color-change cost savings. Installation for the new system is scheduled for November, 1996.
