Nissan Quest and Mercury Villager Have Engine Knocks
07/01/96
Nissan and Mercury are in the process of replacing motors or blocks in 125,000 1995-96 three liter V-6's. Ford is replacing the entire Villager engine, while Nissan is replacing the block. Both cars have a connecting rod design that does not have sufficient lubrication and therefore knocks. If the customer has a gripe--if the motor is talking back to him/her--the factory will replace it. The replacement is not a recall, as the knock will not effect the engine's performance.
