Mark Donohue's Son David Takes Touring Car Opener at Lime Rock
The North American Touring Car Championship series got off to a rousing start but with a small field of cars at Lime Rock Park, Ct, and saw David Donohue (subbing for Danny Sullivan, who was on his honeymoon) put his Dodge Stratus in the winners circle. Behind Donohue in the sedan series patterned after the European Touring Car Championship and which features standing starts was Rod Millen in a Toyota Carina in eighth place with second going to Randy Probst in a right hand drive Honda Accord and Donohue's teammate, ex-indy driver Dominic Dobson, in another Pac West (factory) team Stratus. Other cars running in this series, which moves on to Belle Isle. Michigan as a support race for the CART event this coming weekend, are BMW and Mercedes.
