Press Release: Ford Opens For Business in Korea

05/31/96

SEOUL, PRNewswire -- Ford Motor Company today officially
launched Ford Motor Company of Korea to serve its new dealers
throughout South Korea.

"Korea represents an enormous potential market for Ford,
and we need to be in the best possible position to meet the
needs and expectations of our Korean customers and dealers,"
said Jim Tessada, president of Ford Motor Company of Korea.
"In addition to handling the import of vehicles, our staff
will provide day-to-day support to our dealers in the areas
of sales, marketing, customer service, training, and business
management."

In separate ceremonies this week, the first three Ford
dealers in Korea also opened their doors for business. They
have been established by Sunin Motor Company, Ltd. and
Woo Sung Industrial Company, Ltd., both based in Seoul and
Chun II Express Tours, Ltd., based in Pusan. Ford and its
dealers will offer a selected range of Ford cars and trucks
in Korea, including the Taurus, Mondeo, Mustang, Explorer,
Windstar, Lincoln Continental and Lincoln Town Car.
Ford's initiative in Korea is part of a global drive to
build its presence and market share in markets around the
world -- especially in the Asia-Pacific region. The com-
pany's strategy rests on intensive market research, or, in
Ford's lexicon, "hearing the voice of the customer."

"The global automotive industry today is intensely
competitive," said Mike Auld, general manager of Ford's
Worldwide Export Operations, who was on hand for today's
ceremony in Seoul. "The companies that are successful into
the next century will be the companies that hear and respond
to the voice of the customer around the world. That's what
we intend to do right here in Korea."
