Press Release: Chrysler Passes 1 Million Mark at Earliest Point Ever

05/31/96

AUBURN HILLS, Mich., PRNewswire -- Chrysler Corporation today
sold its 1 millionth vehicle of calendar year 1996 in the
United States, marking the earliest point in any year the
company has reached that milestone.

The achievement was the first time Chrysler Corporation
dealers reached the million point in May, and it was 10 days
ahead of the June 7, 1994, 1-million-vehicle mark that was
the previous record.

Last year's 1 millionth Chrysler vehicle was sold on June 11.

Combined U.S. sales of Chrysler, Plymouth, Dodge, Jeep(R)
and Eagle vehicles were a record 591,306 during the first
quarter of 1996 and set monthly records in February and
April.

Chrysler sold 2,164,343 cars and trucks in 1995. The
company's calendar-year record was in 1988, when U.S. sales
totaled 2,208,057.
