05/30/96

RUSHFORD, Minn., PRNewswire -- Lucas Industries, the global
automotive and aerospace systems supplier, has won $6 million
in contracts with Toyota Motor Manufacturing USA Inc.,
Georgetown, Ky., to supply the heating and air conditioning
(HVAC) controls for the 1997 Model Year Toyota Camry and
Avalon. The HVAC controls are manufactured at Lucas' Elec-
trical and Electronic Systems plant, Lucas Body Systems, in
Rushford, Minn.

Production of the 1997 Model Year Toyota Camry and Avalon
will start in July 1996. Lucas will export a portion of the
Camry HVAC controls to Japan.

"Being selected by Toyota further underscores our commitment
to this important customer and strengthens Lucas' position as
a cost-effective systems supplier," said David Keller,
President, Lucas Body Systems North America. "Lucas' past
performance with Toyota as a full-service supplier contribu-
ted significantly to this contract award." Lucas' Rushford
plant has been a supplier to Toyota since 1991.

The Lucas HVAC instrument panel contains rotary knobs that
control the mode, air temperature and fan speed, all ergonom-
ically developed to provide driver comfort. All controls and
functions are designed with easy-to-read labels, which appear
white in daylight and light green to yellow at night for
clear visibility.
