General Motors to be More Aggressive Globally.

05/29/96

At last weeks G.M. shareholders meeting CEO John Smith predicted that the General's international sales will increase by 50% in the next 10 years."We are focusing on the world because that's where GM's growth will be in the years ahead" Smith stated. GM sold 2 million vehicles worldwide in the first quarter of 1996 and of these 1.15 million were U.S. sales. The corporation lost $900 million due to the brake strike, however. Some of GM's future global activities include building a car in Poland, Chevy Blazers in Russia, and Buicks in China.
