More Law Suits flying Between G.M. and V.W.
05/28/96
First General Motors sued V.W., alleging that former executive Ignacio Lopez stole secret files when he left G.M. to join Volkswagen in Germany. Now the German automaker has counter-sued the General, citing defamation of character and seeking damages of 10 million marks (about $6.5 million). VW alleges in its 40-page suit that German law requires G.M. to prove its allegations or stop making them public. A spokesperson for G.M. Europe said that the company will respond next week.
