Dana Corporation Press Release: Dana Corp. to Supply Truck Frames to Toyota

05/17/96

DANA CORPORATION TO SUPPLY TRUCK FRAMES TO NEW TOYOTA PLANT

TOLEDO, Ohio, May 7 -- Dana Corporation's
Parish Light Vehicle Structures Division will supply frames
to the recently announced, new Toyota truck plant in Princeton, Indiana,
according to Mike Greene, vice president of Dana's Parish Structural
Components Group.

The first trucks are scheduled for assembly in the fall of 1998.
Dana expects to build a new factory to supply the Toyota plant,
Greene said. Employment at the new Dana plant is expected to be
between 100 and 150 when fully operational. This new facility will be
designed to supply the Toyota assembly plant in sequential order,
helping to reduce inventory and improve efficiency. The location of the
new Dana plant has not been determined.

"Dana was the first U.S. manufacturer to win frame business from
a Japanese company," he added. "We built a plant in Stockton,
California, in 1994 to supply the Toyota Tacoma trucks built at the New
United Motor Manufacturing Incorporated (NUMMI) facility in Fremont,
California.

"Toyota values long-term relationships with U.S. suppliers and
evaluates potential suppliers competitively. That, coupled with the
relationship we've built in California, helped us obtain this new
business."

Dana has steadily increased its business with Japanese vehicle
manufacturers over the last 20 years, according to Chairman Southwood J.
Morcott.

"We are supplying a wide range of Dana products to Japanese
manufacturers here in the U.S. and around the world," Morcott said. "We
have increased our global business with these companies from virtually
nothing a decade ago to more than $240 million last year."
