Toyota Camry Aiming to Replace Taurus as No. 1
05/03/96
The number one selling car in the U.S. for January was the Toyota Camry followed by the Ford Taurus sales nemesis,Honda Civic. The Camry has a $1,500 price advantage over the Ford and that just might be all it needs to take over the number one sales position for the 1996 model year. Toyota is re-doing its Georgetown,Ky plant and will hae a greater Camry capacity so the doestcally produced model can effect some cost savings and retail price advantage over its rivals. The base price of $15,200 for the Camry LE is close to the Honda Accord and $1,00 under the base sticker of the TAurus G.
