Are the Days Numbered for Chrysler's Eagles?
05/03/96
Chrysler's ailing line of Eagle models may be heading for the end of the road as the number three automaker seems to be tired of throwing ad dollars in a disproportionate ratio to sales. No one seems to know why the Summit,Vision and Talons do not appeal to the car buying public. They are good cars, priced right and their TV ads are among the best - yet only 3,469 Talons have been sold in the first quarter of 1996. Vision sales totalled 3,900 while a similat platformed car, the Entrepid moved almost 40,000 units over the curb. In 1994, in an effort to keep the line alive...mostly in deference to their dealer organization Chrysler pumped $100 million in promotion into Eagle. However the rumors from Highland Park, Mi indicate the well may have run dry and that MOPAR is going to stop beating a dead horse.
